Dear Mosaic Family, "That's word, we pray We got to pray Just to make it today I said we pray ah, yeah, pray We got to pray Just to make it today That's right, we pray"
As a five-year-old in 1990, MC Hammer’s “Pray” was lit! (I promise I’ll never use lit again, sorry about that) Those Hammer pants, that beat, You couldn’t top it... unless you were Mariah Carey of course. Because of Carey, Hammer topped out at #2 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Should he have prayed a little harder? We’ll never know, but maybe he was on to something.
I don’t know if you’ve had one of those days recently, but there are some days where prayer is the only thing that gets you through. There is a real sense in which we should pray, to make it through the day. And that isn’t a bad thing at all. Prayer helping us through tough times is Biblical. We see that idea throughout the Psalms and from Jesus himself. Tomorrow I'll be preaching on prayer and how it helps us through the ups and downs of life.
If you’d like to read ahead check out Luke 18:1-8. Jesus tells a fascinating parable about an underdog getting the justice she deserved.
