I love food
Dear Mosaic Family,
I'm sending out this newsletter right before lunch, and I'm hungry, and I'm reminded just how much I love food. I LOVE food!! Food is my love language. There are three ways to my heart: buy me food, cook me food, or be food. I love the smell of food, the taste of food, the eating of food... and everything in between. On the flip side, I'm not a big fan of hunger. The hunger pangs, the weakness, the lack of energy aren't much fun. Dieting is always rough. Praise God for food.
As we continue our "I am" series tomorrow, in which we're looking at who Jesus is, in his own words, I find it so intriguing that Jesus compares himself to food. Who does that? More specifically, Jesus compares himself to bread. Actually, he makes a stronger statement than that, he flat out says: "I am the bread of life." What in the world does that mean?
Jesus is revealing a profound truth about us and about God. He is telling us that we are desire machines, animals of desire. We hunger. We want. We long. We yearn. We dream. And as hard as we try to satisfy our deepest desires, they just seem to keep roaring back, often stronger than before, leaving us even more dissatisfied. No matter how much we accomplish, earn, spend, have, experience, etc., we always want/need more. So what are we to do?
Join us tomorrow as we ponder what Jesus means when he says that he is the true bread of life, who satisfies our souls and fills our hearts with joy.
