People Skills: Parents & Children

Dear Mosaic Boston Family,

As we finish up our "People Skills" sermon series tomorrow, we'll look at what Holy Scripture has to teach about parenting, and the child-parent relationship. In preparation for this sermon, I went through my "vault" of past sermons to see how I've approached this topic before. After a thorough search, I realized I have never preached a full sermon dedicated to parenting--partially because early on in the life of the church we didn't have that many kids, and partially because as a new dad, I was still figuring things out (on the job training). In the past couple years, the Lord has really blessed Mosaic with families and children (Mini-Mosaic is booming!!), and now that I've got four kids and almost a decade of parenting experience, I feel like I've got something to share!

We've subtitled this sermon series "How to love your nearest neighbors," with the assumption that often, those closest to us are sometimes the hardest to love well. This is true, mainly, because they know us and we know them better than anyone else. This is especially true with kids. Our kids see us all the time, when we're at our best and when we're not so much. They are born with a high-powered hypocrisy radars, and they aren't afraid to use them.

Join us tomorrow as we study Deuteronomy 6, one of the most profound teachings in all of Scripture on parenting. It teaches us that the first step to successful parenting is growing in your love, as a child, for God the Father.

Praying for you!
Pastor Jan
