Help those affected by Hurricane Florence

I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

Psalm 91:2-6

This past week, our country faced two disasters that deeply affected their communities–-one, a national hurricane; and the other, a local gas explosion. On Sunday, we prayed as a church for those affected by both.

Keep these communities in your prayers. If you would like to get more involved, here are a few ways to help:

Hurricane Florence

Around 35 people have died from the affects of Hurricane Florence, and 343,000 are still without power in North Carolina. Through your giving, Mosaic Boston supports SEND Relief, which in turn has mobilized field kitchens and pastor packs with necessary tools. To learn more about their work and how you can help directly, visit: www.namb.net/hurricane-florence.

Merrimack Valley

Dozens of homes in the towns of Lawrence, Andover and North Andover exploded or burned after a gas pipe exploded on Sept. 13th. Dozens of people were injured, and an 18-year-old man died from the incident. Nearly 9,000 people were evacuated from their homes. In addition to keeping these communities in your prayers, we encourage you to support these communities through donating supplies or money.

We recommend visiting the American Red Cross website, or donating directly to the communities affected: AndoverCommunitySupport@andoverma.us and http://www.eccf.org/lawrenceemergencyfund.
