The Greatest Story Teller

Dear Mosaic Family,

Who are you favorite story tellers? Who are the writers whose stories have touched your heart, shaped your imagination, given you a vision for life? Maybe Roald Dahl, creator of classics such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach? Maybe Charles Dickens, with Oliver Twist? Is it William Shakespeare, Fedor Dostoevsky, JK Rowling, JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis, Ernest Hemingway, George Lucas, Morgan Freeman?

Whoever your favorite story teller is, they do the basics well: craft a riveting story, with believable, memorable characters, a plot with conflict and tension, and a knockout ending. They've also probably done one thing exceptionally: they write the story on your heart. The greatest story tellers don't write with pen/paper, or fingertips/keyboard. The greatest story tellers write with their spirit upon your heart. So you never forget the story. How can you forget a story you feel like you've been written into? You know the characters, you feel what they feel, you're worried about what they're worried about, you're brokenhearted when their hearts are broken, you rejoice when they rejoice.

The greatest story tellers communicate so well, you forget you're reading a story. It's as if the author has disappeared, leaving you alone, with the story. This is also what the greatest communicators do. They get up, start talking, and after a few minutes, you forget they're up there. All you hear is the message, as if it's being written on your heart.

Who is the Greatest Story Teller of all time? Who is the Greatest Writer of all time? The Holy Spirit, of course! The Holy Spirit wrote the Greatest Story Ever Told. The Holy Spirit wrote the Greatest News. The Holy Spirit is still writing. He is writing you into the Greatest Story, by writing stories, dreams, visions, and hopes on your heart.

Join us tomorrow as we mediate upon 2 Corinthians 3, and the deep truth that we are "a letter from Christ... written not with ink but with the Spirit of the Living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts."

Let us pray.
Holy Spirit, you are the Greatest Story Teller
You wrote The Story
You write our stories
Make my story more exciting
I can handle it
This comedy won't end tragically
I will be a hero not a villain
A soldier not a spy
Loyal not a traitor
Because I want you to keep writing freely
To build a tremendous story
Can't wait to read the chapter on my life.
In Jesus Name
Amen

Praying for you!

Pastor Jan
