Newsletter: Always Being Reformed

Dear Mosaic Family,

As we end one year, and begin another, it’s helpful to take account of the year passed, remember lessons learned, consider changes to make...resolutions, everyone’s favorite word.

But lasting change doesn’t come through resolutions, but through reformation. We need to be reformed into the image of Jesus Christ. We’re like clay in the potter’s hands, and he’s shaping us, forming us, and reforming us.

This reformation, or transformation, happens when our minds are renewed according to the Word of God. It’s the Word of God, when applied by the Spirit of God, that leads to true transformation, lasting reformation.

One of the great principles that came out of the Reformation, along with Sola Scriptura, Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, Solus Christus, and Soli Deo Gloria, was “Semper Reformada” – Always Reforming.

This isn’t a call for the church to evolve in an ever-changing culture, but a battle cry to continuously reform the church in accord with the Scriptures. The church is formed by the Word of God and always being reformed by the Word of God. Just like individuals are.

How does reformation happen in our lives and in our churches in our land?

When we look into the Word of God, into the Law of God, and say, Lord, where have I added to it and where have I taken away?

Deuteronomy 4:2 You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you.

Join us Sunday as we look at Mark 7:1-23, where Jesus excoriates the Pharisees for teaching the commandments of people as commandments of God. By adding to God's commandments, they had subtracted the Word of God of its power.

Looking forward to worshiping with you!

Serve with us

At Mosaic Boston, we serve because Jesus served. The Gospel makes us a family marked by Christlike humility and service to God, to his church, and to the people around us. We can all play an eternally significant role in Jesus’ mission. Service Teams are a key aspect of our Sunday operations and meet Sundays before, during, or after Worship Services. We have a huge need across many of our teams, you can find more information and get involved here.
