Final Words
Dear Mosaic Family,
In Genesis 49, Jacob summons his sons to his deathbed and pronounces blessings upon them, "blessing each with the blessing suitable to him" (verse 28).
As you read these "suitable blessings," you notice some of the sons are addressed quite sharply. In the case of the first three sons, the words are severe and the rebuke is stern. Reuben is rebuked for his instability. Simeon and Levi are rebuked for their unrighteous wrath. Issachar gets rebuked for his lack of ambition.
Why are these called blessings? Because it's a blessing to have their loving father speak to them this way. It's a blessing to be rebuked for sin. It's a blessing to be loved enough to be told hard truths.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."
The Holy Scriptures are given to teach us doctrine and to train us in the ways of righteousness. But all the teaching and training isn't going to do much if we don't welcome reproof and correction.
The Lord promises us in Proverbs 1:23 "If you turn at my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my word known to you."
Join us this Sunday for corporate worship as we study Genesis 49 and are further equipped for every good work.
Looking forward to worshiping with you!
