Newsletter: Great Faith Unleashes Great Power
Dear Mosaic Family,
In the Gospels, only a few people truly impress Jesus. What impresses Jesus? Education? Money? Power? No. What impresses Jesus is faith.
In our text for Sunday, we meet a gentile woman who amazes Jesus with her faith in Him, so much so, he exclaims, "O woman, great is your faith!" Her great faith released His great power in her life. Great faith releases great power. Why? God honors bold faith because bold faith honors God.
What made this woman's faith so impressive?
She humbly accepts Christ's no, while persistently asking for his yes.
The woman is a mother, whose daughter had been tormented by a demon. Mark 7:26 says "she begged him to cast the demon out of her daughter."
What's Jesus' response? "Let the children be fed first, for it is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." With severe words, Jesus essentially tells her no. How does she respond? She humbly accepts his verdict, while asking Him to change it. Apart from the grace of God, I'm not a child of God. I'm just a dog... but can I be your dog, Lord?
Her response to Jesus is what amazes Him, "Yes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs."
I have absolutely zero grounds upon which to claim your favor, Lord, but I know there's enough bread on your table even for a dog like me.
Jesus said to her, "For this statement you may go your way; the demon has left your daughter."
Join us Sunday as we learn how to exercise great faith in our great God as we meditate upon Mark 7:24-37.
Looking forward to worshiping with you!
