Newsletter: King Jesus Loves His Daughters
Dear Mosaic Family,
This Sunday we approach one of the most beautiful events of Jesus' Earthly ministry, his healing of one daughter and resurrection of another. The encounter reveals the heart of the King: he loves his people with the tender love of God the Father. Jesus, the Son of God, knows the Father's heart so deeply, that he loves his own with the Father's love.
One of the most explicit Scriptures predicting the coming of the Messiah, King Jesus, is found in Isaiah 9:6-7,
"For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace
there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this."
The Scripture predicts the birth of a son, who is also Mighty God and Everlasting Father.
It's clear the Messiah will be human and God, and he's the Son, who is also called Everlasting Father. You might be wondering how the Son is called Father. Our text for Sunday, Mark 5:21-43, reveals to us the nature of Jesus' love is the tender yet firm love of God the Father. After healing a desperate woman who had been suffering debilitating pain for 12 years, Jesus says to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease." She is the only woman addressed as "Daughter" by Jesus. Jairus' sick 12 year old daughter had a loving dad who pleads with Jesus to save his precious daughter. This woman only had faith that Jesus would heal her because he loves her as a father loves his own daughter. She was right. She was healed. Then Jairus gets the heartbreaking news that his daughter died. Then Jesus firmly says, "Do not fear, only believe." He does. Jesus enters the room, takes her hand, and speaks in her heart language, "Little girl, I say to you, arise." She does.
Join us Sunday as we marvel in the tender yet firm fatherly love of King Jesus.
Looking forward to worshiping with you!

Parent Commissioning Service
This Sunday, November 19 during the 9:15am service
At Mosaic, we don't dedicate children. Instead we commission parents who have dedicated themselves to living gospel-centered lives in front of their children. Just like missionaries called to the mission field, we want to equip and send parents to be the Christlike ambassadors they are called to be. Join us to celebrate parent commissioning.
