Newsletter: The King over Legions
Dear Mosaic Family,
Behind the veil of the physical realm is a spiritual realm, an invisible realm, the unseen realm. In the unseen realm, a violent battle wages over humanity, over the physical and spiritual destinies of each of us.
But this isn’t a battle of equals. Satan is not equal in power to God, nor is he equal in power to Jesus. Jesus is more powerful than Strongman Satan. Satan has invaded this world with his influence and lies. Satan has colonized the world that belongs to God. Jesus came to take it back. He does so by conquering Satan with His Word. Be gone, Satan. Get behind me, Satan.
Satan is real, and he is the king of legions of demons. We can only withstand the power of the demonic by repenting of sin and believing in Jesus Christ and the power of His blood.
Our world is well aware that demons exist. In their debut album Night Visions, the band Imagine Dragons included the single "Demons" with the following lyrics:
I want to hide the truth
I want to shelter you
But with the beast inside
There's nowhere we can hide
No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come
When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It's where my demons hide
It's where my demons hide
Don't get too close
It's dark inside
Don't want to let you down
But I am hell bound
It's almost as if the lyrics were written from the perspective of the poor man, possessed by a legion of demons in our text for Sunday, Mark 5:1-20. He truly was tortured by demons within and he truly was hell bound, but Jesus saved him and immediately gave him marching orders: "Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you."
Looking forward to worshiping with you!
Pastor Jan

At Mosaic Boston, we serve because Jesus served. The Gospel makes us a family marked by Christlike humility and service to God, to his church, and to the people around us. We can all play an eternally significant role in Jesus’ mission. Service Teams are a key aspect of our Sunday operations and meet Sundays before, during, or after Worship Services. We have a huge need across many of our teams, you can find more information and get involved here.
