Questions about God

Dear Mosaic Family,

Are there compelling reasons to believe in God? Are there "divine fingerprints"--strong clues for his existence?  Yes, there are. I'll give you 20 of the best tomorrow. But that's not all I'll do.

I also want to wrestle with the questions: "Why does God hide himself?" Why are there so few clues to God? And why are they so obscure? Why do they have to be clues?

Bertrand Russell, on his deathbed, was visited by a friend who asked him, “You’ve been the world’s most famous atheist most of your life, and now you’re about to die. What if you were wrong? What would you say to God if you met him? Don’t you think it’s prudent at least to raise that question now, before it’s too late?”

Russell replied: “I think I should say to him: Sir, it appears that my atheistic hypothesis was erroneous. Would you mind answering me one wee little question? Why didn’t you give us more evidence?”

Very good question. Join us tomorrow as we wrestle with this question, and other questions about God.

Praying for you, Pastor Jan
