Jesus among New Age Spirituality

Dear Mosaic Boston Family,

Astrology, horoscopes, Ouija boards, yoga, the occult, signs of the zodiac, Kabbalah, psychics, witchcraft, parapsychology, magick, palmistry, tarot cards, numerology, dowsing, rune casting, séances, necromancy, channeling, voodoo, charms, amulets, the evil eye, hexing, etc...

We know all these things exist in other parts of the world, but not in Boston, right? People are too secular and educated to believe in these things, right? Wrong.

Just a casual google search for the "occult in Boston" opens a whole world of Boston's spirituality. There's innumerable Meetup groups and organizations like the Mysterium Magentum and the Hermetic Arts Learning Center. If you join the "Greater Boston Wiccan" Meetup, you can take classes on "Clairvoyant Medication" and "Clairvoyant Healing." You can find Thelemites, Wiccans, and Masons in the Great Cradle Library. If you're interested in purchasing books about New Age spirituality or healing crystals, the "Seven Stars Bookshop" in Central Square is the "#1 occult/esoteric bookstore in America." If that's not enough, you can always find an Order Templi Orientis oasis in Salem.

Why the prevalence of "spiritual" groups in a bastion of secularism like Boston? How are Christians to think about these things? Join us tomorrow as we look at Jesus among New Age Spirituality.

Praying for you,
Pastor Jan
