Loving Authority

Dear Mosaic Boston Family,

We live in a culture where the only authority that matters, is the authority of self. We subject every external authority to the supreme court of our feelings and intuition. We are told to "question authority," and partially for good reason. We've become disillusioned by disgusting abuses of power: political scandals, corporate corruption, even sexual abuse at the hands of priests. "Authority" has become synonymous with "authoritarianism."  

Although God condemns ungodly, perverted authority, He has infused the created order with a godly authority for universal human flourishing. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely--unless power submits to God.

Jesus Christ replaces loving (verb) authority with loving (adjective) authority. Instead of loving authority, and using it to serve ourselves, we are called to use authority lovingly, to serve others. When God grants authority, it is always for the blessing and protection of those under authority and never for the selfish advantage of the one in authority. Join us tomorrow as we finish the book of Colossians and study godly authority in the family, marketplace, and church.

Holiday Service Changes
Sundays, December 23 & 30, and January 6 
On Sundays, December 23rd, 30th, and January 6th, we will be holding only 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. services. There will be no evening service. Childcare will be provided only for nursery (0-2 years old). Regular Mini Mosaic programming will resume on January 6th.
