Advent: Hope

Dear Mosaic Boston Family,

If you were raised in a Christian family, you probably know the “Christian mom” go-to move to help a child in a moment of despair. Maybe you were stressed about a relationship, you didn't know what to do with your life, or you just didn't feel happy––and what advice did she give you? “You should pray about it. Trust God.”

As a kid, that answer was pretty satisfying. As a teenager and adult, that answer just didn’t seem to be enough. You wanted specific directions to ensure an ideal resolution of the situation and were frustrated that you didn’t get them. Calling on God just seemed too simplistic.

Was your mom’s instinct right? As you get older in life should you listen to her advice? When you help your own children, should you follow in her footsteps?

If you want to know the answers, join us tomorrow for worship as we discuss Isaiah 7:10-17, a passage about a despairing moment in the history of God’s people when God seems to provide them with impractical advice. We'll investigate God's method of providing hope to all people as we kick off our four-week long Advent series.

Looking forward to worshiping with you!
