Love God & People, by Loving the Church
Dear Mosaic Family,
This Sunday, we're starting a three week sermon series called "Love. Jesus. Simple." These three words shape who we are, what we do, and where we're going, as a church. These three words have shaped the life, ministry, and direction of Mosaic Boston Church for the past decade, and we pray, will continue to shape us for the next decade(s), Lord willing.
Love is our motive.
Jesus is our message.
Simplicity is our method.
Join us tomorrow as we meditate on how "Love" motivates everything we do at Mosaic. Jesus Christ sums up the essence of Christianity like this: Love God and Love people.
Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He is the Son of God and Son of Man. He is the image of the invisible God, therefore revealing who God is. He is the image of the invisible God, therefore showing us what the perfect human is. Jesus loved God and people perfectly. How did Jesus love God? How did Jesus love people?
Jesus didn't love God by simply singing praise songs to Him all the time.
Jesus didn't love people simply by meeting their physical needs.
Jesus ultimately loved God and people by loving the church. Jesus loved the church and gave Himself up for her, that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word, so that He might present the church to Himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish (Ephesians 5).
If Jesus Christ ultimately loves God and people by loving the church, should we not all aspire to love God and people by more fervently loving His church? I pray this sermon will deepen our love for Christ and His beloved church.
Praying for you!
Pastor Jan
