We have room for you
Dear Mosaic Family,
Jesus Christ knows what it feels like to be rejected. Jesus knows what it feels like to be left out. Jesus Christ knows what it feels like to be pushed out because there's no room for Him. He was born in a manger "because there was no place for them in the inn." He was pushed outside by everyone in power, until He was crucified outside the gate. In Revelation 3, Jesus is even pushed out of the church in Laodicea, to whom He says, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me."
Jesus knows what it feels like to be ostracized. Perhaps that's why he hung out with the other rejects. Jesus stood with the outcasts. Jesus makes room for us, the unclean. Jesus welcomes everyone to repent and believe in Him. Jesus welcomes everyone to come to Him and have their sins forgiven. Christianity is the most inclusive and therefore most diverse movement in history. Everyone is welcome to enter through the door of repentance. That's the only condition: repent of your sins to Jesus Christ.
Since the door is open to everyone, as Christians, we must make room in our hearts for all kinds of people with all kinds of perspectives. We welcome the free exchange of ideas. We welcome debate. There are no topics off limits at the Christian table. We test the ideas by the Scriptures. We keep the ones that glorify God. We reject those contrary to God's Word. We call each other to repentance, by speaking truth in love. We're family and families talk about everything. There's no self-censorship in the family of God.
"Make room in your hearts for us" the Apostle Paul writes, and then explains what it looks like when you've made room for someone in your heart. Join us tomorrow as we study 2 Corinthians 7:2-7:16.
Praying for you!
Pastor Jan
