Castles Made of Sand

Dear Mosaic Family,

Jimmy Hendrix famously sang,

“Castles made of sand
Fall in the sea
Eventually”

We all know a structure is only as strong as the materials that compose it.

2000 years earlier Jesus said something very similar.

“…everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”  Matthew 7:26-27

Jimmy reminds us that a castle made of sand will eventually crumble. Jesus reminds us that even a house constructed with great skill and strong materials is ultimately unable to stand if it doesn't rest on a firm foundation. This is true in construction, but this is also true in life.

This week we’ll be looking at the end of Matthew 7, where Jesus challenges us to evaluate our foundation. What are we building our lives on? Are we prepared to weather the storms ahead?

Storms in life come and go, but there is an ultimate storm looming on the horizon that none can escape. The winds of death are blowing against our door and growing stronger with every passing breath. How can we be sure that our house will stand when that storm arrives? This is the question we’ll be looking at this Sunday as we study the conclusion to Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount.

Please take some time to read through Matthew 7:13-29 and join us this Sunday at 9:30am or 11:30am!

With Love,

Pastor Shane
