I'm Christian, Now What?

Dear Mosaic Family,

One of my favorite things about serving as a pastor is that I get to speak to a lot of new Christians. These baby Christians have great joy, peace and freedom in their newfound faith in Jesus Christ, however, they often don’t know what to do with it. I’m often asked the question, “I’m Christian, now what?”. Behind that question are desires to know how to engage the church and world, where to serve, how to engage Christians and non-Christians, and how to grow in their faith.

More seasoned Christians who are honest with themselves will admit that they often wrestle with the same question and desire direction in similar areas. Some simply got paralyzed thinking about how to apply their faith when they became Christian, and have never consistently attempted to apply their faith in daily life. Others have known how to faithfully serve Christ in previous seasons, but after a major life transition have struggled to identify how to apply their faith in the new season.

Christians, new and old, who struggle to know how to apply their faith in daily life, often find themselves stuck in a cycle of mustering up strength to commit to certain forms of service to God only to get burnt out after such forms of service prove to be more challenging than originally expected.

Where can new Christians and seasoned Christians go to find out how to most effectively apply their faith in life? How can they turn their faith into action and avoid burnout? To their father, of course.

This week, we’ll look at the life of Abraham, noted in the Bible as the Father and model for all who are born again through faith in Jesus Christ. We’ll look at Genesis 14, which chronicles a period when Abraham’s trust in God’s promises is peaking, and analyze how he turned his faith into action and avoided burnout in the process.

With Love,

Pastor Andy
