Newsletter: Seek First the Kingdom of God

Dear Mosaic Family,

In Mark chapter 2, Jesus said to a tax collector: Follow me. In a miracle of miracles, Levi rose from his tax booth and followed Jesus. I pray for a revival amongst the tax collecting professionals of our nation. I pray they also repent of their sins and follow King Jesus in obeying God's Law not to steal.

I say it's a miracle of miracles, because by following Jesus, Levi was turning from the god who had ruled over him: money. Now, instead of serving money, he begins to (immediately) serve King Jesus with his wealth. Levi rose and followed Jesus, all the way to Levi's house. Levi's house now becomes Jesus' house. Levi's money becomes Jesus' money. Levi's food becomes Jesus' food. Levi's friends became waters for Jesus' fishing expedition to save them from Satan's nets. Levi throws a great feast and invites all his friends and former colleagues over to meet his new Boss, Jesus.

Mark 3:16-17 16 And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 17 And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

The New Living Translation renders the Pharisees' question in verse 16: "Why does he eat with such scum?"

Jesus' answer: because the scum know they're scum. We all need healing for our sin-sick souls. Jesus offers the healing today. Do you recognize you are a sinner? Do you realize you've broken God's Commandments? Ask Jesus for forgiveness, repent and follow Him to the Lord's Supper this Sunday.

The text for our feast from the Word for Sunday is
Mark 2:13-28.

Looking forward to worshiping with you!
